Storyteller

The show is a celebration of stories – from Fairytale to Tearjerker – told through different genres of music.

Every good story begins with a phrase that captures the listener and draws them into the impending drama. Storyteller is all about the stories that follow those phrases. The juicy gossip: ‘Now you didn’t hear this from me, but…’. The tales of Magic: ‘You’ll never believe’. Those heart rending stories of love and loss: ‘You might need some tissues’ and of course,  in Ireland we have a favourite phrase that opens every great adventure story ‘Wait til I tell ya!’. Soprano Emer Barry, a native of Longford, brings this unique show to Boyle Arts Festival for the first time. She will be joined by Eoin Hynes (Tenor), Niall Kinsella (Piano) and Lynda O’Connor (Violin). They will perform a programme dedicated to the best stories found in Classical music, Musical Theatre and Movie music. From Mozarts juicy tale of illicit love in ‘La Ci Darem La Mano’ to Laurettas tantrum in ‘O Mio Babbino Caro’ the drama filled world of Opera will be widely explored among lighter favourties such as the magical Over the Rainbow from The Wizard of Oz and that dance scene from Scent of a Women that proves that not all stories need words.
